Unit 6 exercise

Hello everyone=) I hope you all are having a great week. In this assignment we were asked to do the integral assessment in our book. This was interesting for me but I already knew what aspects of my life I need to work on. One is my spirituality, I have said this in past posts that I feel I am lacking in this area of my life. I have been trying to be more open to spirituality and prayer. I have also started to do yoga and try to do it every night before I go to bed. This helps me to focus on my breathing and wash away what is on my mind so I can be ready for bed. One of the other aspects is my body. I have realized that my son is only getting bigger and I have thrown my back out way to much already. Because of this I decided to join a gym and change the way I eat. I keep track of all the food I eat everyday and go to the gym 5 days a week. Since I have started I have lost 4lbs off the scale and 11lbs of fat. I also have so much more energy and look forward to going to the gym. This is the time I take for me and I enjoy it. I have to say that another idea I have been thinking about is continuing my education and going for my Masters. Although this is just a thought I have been really thinking about it. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens after this chapter of school closes.

  1. hi Monica,

Congrats on the weighloss and improved energy! Like you, I was responsible for moving my daughter everywhere she needed to go. By the time she turned 7, it was no longer as easy as I thought it would be. Moving her from her wheelchair to the car and back again 30 times a week was starting to wreak havoc on my back. I had been a paramedic for so long and transporting patients was what I did for a living, so I never once thought it would be an issue with my daughter. But apparently the same repetitive movements of twisting her from the chair into the car and back again or into her bathchair from so low, etc worked out a different set of muscles that I thought. Additionally my mental state was not as strong as I would have like it to have been. So depression often made my body aches so much worse. I am so glad to hear that you are doing Yoga every night! I'm sure by now you already know, but "me time", especially for you, is so very important. Always remember to take care of you so you can be the best for him.

    Wonderful post!

    1. Hello Lori and thank you for your response. I too feel the same way as you did about being able to continue to move him but I have come to realize that is not the case. I too have a car seat so I have to move him from the chair to the seat then out again multiple times a day. Although it's not an easy task as you already know, it is the only way we can continue to have a life which is so important. I have learned recently that "me time" is very important and I am learning to like it.
