Blog questions

Hello everyone the assignment this week for our blog was a nice reflection for me. The hardest part was making a goal for my spiritual wellbeing so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I hope everyone is having a great week=) Here is the answers to our blog questions. Thank you all for reading this.

1)      A) My physical wellbeing is a work in progress right now. With that being said I would say I am probably at a 6. I recently just joined the gym and have been changing my eating habits. So far I have been losing weight and fat and gaining muscle. This makes me happy and I also feel better as a person over all. B) My spiritual wellbeing on the other hand has its ups and downs.  I would probably rate myself at a 4/5. Due to the struggles I have encountered with my son it is very hard to have spiritual wellbeing but I have been working on getting better and improving this since this is a very important aspect of my life. C) My psychological wellbeing is probably the best it has ever been. Since I have been trying to change how I view things (glass half full instead of half empty) I have been a much happier person. I have been less frustrated at myself and feel like I can breathe for once in my life. I hope that with this class I will learn even more to help advance me in all of these important aspects of life.

2)      Physical- I have already implemented my goal by going to the gym and making a life style change. This makes me feel better as a person while helping me to get into better physical shape so that I can continue to take care of my son as he continues to grow and get bigger.  Spiritual- I have been trying to think of a goal but I am having a hard time thinking of one. I know that I need to become closer to God I just don’t know how.  Psychological- Everyday I try to realize that this is another chance to make a change in my life. I have been trying very hard to have a more positive outlook every day and trying to see the glass half full instead of half empty. Since I have been doing this I feel as though I am in a better state of mind and don’t feel as frustrated as I usually was. I would like to continue this goal. I have also been taking some time each day just for me and do something I enjoy doing like word searches.

3)      I think by taking time for myself is a big step for me because I never did this in the past. I always felt that since I am now a mother I should not take any time for myself because that is time I could be spending with my son. Obviously this took me down a hard road for a while but I have come to realize that if I am feeling better then my whole family is too.  I also like to do deep breathing exercises for those rough times. By deep breathing it gives me that time to relax so that I can respond or think rationally.

4)      The Crime of the Century exercise was very relaxing for the part I got to hear. I was just starting to almost fall asleep when all of the sudden it just stopped. I don’t know if this happened for anyone else but I was disappointed. I logged out and tried it again and it happened again. I couldn’t believe it that was just so unfair but relaxing for the little bit I got to hear.

  1. Congratulations on joining the gym and changing your eating habits so that you feel better physically, each step we take makes a difference. As far as spiritual well-being it was suggested to me that it’s not just religion, it is also just that time to relax, reflect and focus on connecting with ourselves and a higher power.

My only suggestion would be to try and possibly incorporate the “silence and stillness” preparation mentioned in chapter 5 of our course reading this week by Dacher. If you can take that time to relax and unwind then focus on where you are and where you want to be.

Spirituality is a very individualized path for everyone and can mean something so different to each person – so find the areas where you struggle and take that time to determine what course is best for you to overcome that struggle. If reading books on the subject works, the Bible, or meditating, or prayer, etc works and helps you get closer to your goal then take it one step at a time or one moment at a time and work towards it.

As far as taking that time, as a parent I felt so selfish taking any time to put myself first that I stopped doing it altogether and like you I ended up on a “hard road”, it wasn't healthy for me and it certainly wasn't healthy for my children. So as hard as it is I have to learn that sometimes the time to take a bath instead of a shower, or spend the extra five minutes in the shower, or the 15-30 minutes before work to relax and unwind is worth it for the larger picture.

I didn't have the same issue you did with the Crime of the Century, but I loaded the page, right clicked and saved the file as an .mp3 file to listen from there so I have the entire file on my computer. If that doesn't work for you then depending on the file size I may be able to email the file I have so you can listen to the entire thing. Did it do that on the Journey On file as well, or just this one?

  2. I admire you for the strength that you still have after all the hardship you have been through in your life. God never gives us more than what we can handle. And the battles that you have had made you such a stronger person.
