One exercise I have found really helpful is visualization. I
use this every time I go to the gym and it has helped me push through some of
my workouts. Visualization is “an exercise that can be used to help facilitate
optimism, confidence and personal effectiveness” (Psychology Today, 2013). I feel that by using visualization in my workouts
it helps me to remember and work towards my goals.
The other exercise I found extremely relaxing was the Subtle
Mind. This was the first exercise that I felt so relaxed I feel asleep. Now my
life is very crazy and my mind seems to go continuously so for an exercise to
relax me that much is just great. I felt very refreshed and clear after this
exercise. I was able to sleep much better and I felt as though all the clutter
in my mind was removed.
I would love to continue these exercises even after the class
has ended. I have really learned a lot about relaxing and clearing the mind of
clutter. Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions

Hi Monica,
ReplyDeletei will have to try using the visualization meditation during my workout. I have been slacking lately and losing interest in my mundain routine, maybe if I visualize it will pass the time faster. I'm glad you had such great results from the subtle mind meditation, I also enjoyed that one. If I can continue meditating I'm hoping it will begin to get easier and my oncentration will improve.
Hello Monica,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and Lanie, visualization can be very powerful especially if you're trying to push yourself through a difficult workout. Sometimes, when I'm driving to work on a day I just really do not want to go in, I start to think about my husband and how truly blessed I am to have such a wonderful man. He is currently sporting a full beard and mustache and resembles Tim Allen in The Santa Claus. Yes, that visual brings a smile to my face.
Looking forward to improving my techniques.
Laurie
I agree with you that visualization has been very beneficial to me. I enjoy trying to relax and visualizing that I am on a beach with the sun warming me up. This visualization always helps me relax and reduces my stress. I did not enjoy the subtle mind exercise but that is what was great about this class. we have tried several different exercises so just because one exercise did not work for me, we did several other exercises that did work for me. Great job
ReplyDeleteHi Monica,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you that visualization is a very useful exercise. It is strange how when we simply picture something (i.e. peaceful scenery) can change how we feel. Mind over matter is a very powerful concept!
